Mike Block It was the ultimate cello party at Tanglewood on August 13! Mike Block joined Yo-Yo Ma, Italian cellist/composer Giovanni Sollima, Croatian cellist Monika Leskovar and the Boston Cello Quartet (comprised of four members of the Boston Symphony Orchestra) for a sold-out concert at Ozawa Hall commemorating the upcoming 400th anniversaries of the deaths of Shakespeare and Cervantes in 2016. Mike composed and arranged much of the music for the occasion, which included two pieces that the musicians performed standing up with the Block Strap, the cello strap designed by Mike. |
